Do you all work holidays? I find that people want me to work holidays so they don't have to take time off during work days. I never work Sundays and there are holidays I would not work on - like Thanksgiving and Christmas. But I am already booked for this Memorial Day and it seems I always work 4th of July. Once I had a guy call me on Wednesday night asking me to work Thanksgiving. When I declined he got abusive over the phone, finally saying, "C'mon! Football doesn't even begin until 1!" Well, football isn't exactly why I take the day off... I offered to help him Friday morning and he declined saying he wanted a three-day weekend! I said, "C'mon! There's football Friday and Saturday too!" Needless to say, he didn't schedule for Friday.

If you're going to do a holiday, at least charge extra for it! I know most inspectors don't work Sundays, but I know others that will work 365.

Well, Dom, you better be working holidays! When I have a computer problem I am whining about, you darn well better be there... I don't mind, even if I have to wait for you to finish chewing that last bite of turkey!
Okay, I may be teasing a little...

lol. Listen I had someone call me last Sunday afternoon. he needed an inspection done immediately for a court appearance on Monday morning. I thought about it for 2 seconds and then said YES!. At a premium why not. i wasn't exactly doing much anyways. Did the inspection he was happy, I was definately happy. So, I guess you just need to take case by case basis. If I'm not doing anything or not with family, then i say, go ahead and make the money!
Regards, Bert
