Looks good Dominic. I like the idea of an attachment to the report as Russ has suggested. How would the credit card option work? I am using cc's now, just curious. Thanks for all of your hard work!

Hi Dwight,
The way the credit card option will work is when you are uploading the report from within the program, you'll check a box that says "client hasn't paid, collect fee online". When the client then goes to view the report, they will be alerted to the fact they haven't paid yet and then presented with a credit card payment page. The money would then go directly to your bank account and the report would be available for them to view. The agent obviously won't be able to view the report either. You will also be able to log in and change the report to paid manually in case you receive funds in some other way.
That does bring up an interesting question though. Should the Agent be offered the chance to pay as well? Or just told their client hasn't paid yet and the report will not be available until the time their account is current?

I would highly doubt that an agent will pay for their clients report! I think that only the client should pay, since our contract is with the client, not the agent.

That's what I was thinking too. Ok, I'll just have it relay the message.

I've spent the last 3 months negotiating with A LOT of banks and credit processors to get you guys the best credit card deal possible, lowest rates, fees, contract length, etc. I finally settled on one and we're in the finally negotiating stage right now. If you choose to use the credit card payment system via the upload service, or your website hosted by us, then you'll actually be signing up with this processor. They then give us a key we add to our system so that everything is able to be integrated. Then basically when a client pays, the money goes directly to your bank account. The processor will send you a statement each month that lists all the money you've brought in.
The rates are a LOT better than Paypal, but I have considered down the road adding paypal as a feature for people who only do a few inspections a month, anything over that and the CC feature is better. Since the Paypal version will take more programming it would definitely be something added later.

Hi Dom,
You really are a busy bee!
I find the notification that someone has looked at a report very unique. How will you know who has looked at it? Will the viewer enter their name?
I didn't realize that the reports could be sent diectly from the program. Until now, I have been including it as an attachment in an email. The client can forward it to whomever they wish.

Steven!! Shame on you. That's what happens when you don't read the emails I sent out. Check out the Animated Tutorial on how to upload a report. You get 3 months free of the service, then it's $20 a month. I'm sure I mentioned it to you when we talked on the phone. The agents have to log in to view the reports and they can view all reports done by and home inspector pro inspector for THEM. That way it doesn't fill up their email inbox and they can go back and refer to them. Since they log in, I can tell you whose logged in. For the clients, they get a direct link. So you just know it's the client or someone they forwarded the link to. No way to really know 100%. I'm looking at a GeoLocation feature to try and track their IP address and get a physical location. We'll see how that goes. Anyways, you know where I'll be until 3am

3am!!!
Sure, your 3 am is my 6am... time to get up and make the donuts.
Actually, I have a new job... i'm renovating a motocycle/boat dealership. Very close to home, so I get to slepp a bit later.
I am working on a report and have a problem that I'm hoping you can adjust. I'll post it in the report section so I don't take this thread on a tangent.

Dom you are tireless my friend. Good work. I too as Russ will wait a bit on the report upload. As you know, I don't do a enough to go with the CC option but will wait and see when you add the PayPal option. Thanks for the long hours and effort you put into this project. We are definately benefitting from all this. I truly appreciate it.
Regards,
Bert

Hey Bert, Thanks for posting, glad to see this post bringing more guys onto the forums Make sure to visit the website hosting posts too. I'm glad I've been able to provide you guys with everything I can. I have many more great ideas that you have all given me and they will continually be added. Home Inspector Pro will definitely continue to be a grow and it's all you inspectors that make it like a large extended family.

Yes, I do enjoy the "family" feel! Agreed, my letter could be a document - in fact, it is, right after the cover page. But I've always sent it as a cover letter in the email, as it's important info (as far as I'm concerned) & I don't trust anyone to completely read their report.
I don't want you to do the letter thing only on my acct, Dom, as I'm still a bit old fashioned and am not convinced I'll be doing the up load feature, at least for a while; I've never used NACHI's, for that matter.
I still feel comfy with direct email without a middleman, and - I may be completely wrong on this - feel it's just one more possible complication. Then again, I detest power windows in a vehicle for the same reason. Complications of being a dinosaur that doesn't get TV reception in the mtns for the past few years, I guess . . .

You could add a brief comment line as to why they are viewing your materials.

Not yet.
Are you suggesting to add a form to contact the inspector on the download page? Hmm, not a bad idea.
Yes, I can see you!

Sorry about the sleep thing, keep talkin to me and........................................................... Yes a form sounds like a good tool to get a sort of a-your part of it all theme, or we value your input (of course). It seems a little more personal that way. I enjoy reciprocation, it is a very powerful tool. Hey here is a good book I am reading-- Influence Science and Practice-- by Robert B Cialdini. Once against its been a pleasure Maestro.

I like all that I see here. I also would like to see some kind of thing that Russ is suggesting as long as it is editable, eg. I do not inspect for meth labs. I like the idea of being able to delete unneeded test reports, etc. This would keep our records clear and save space 0n your servers. Maybe a function such as if we were doing a test report or something that does not involve a live client, a check box or another notation can be attached in the report which would be a flag for the server to delete it, say in 20 to 30 days.
